Happy National Nutrition Month!
Happy National Nutrition Month! Every year the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics creates an education and information campaign that focuses on the importance of making informed food choices and creating good eating and physical activity habits.
Throughout the month of March, CulinArt will be highlighting the importance of eating whole grains! Examples of whole grains include brown rice, bulgur, oatmeal, barley, and whole-wheat bread, pasta, or crackers. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that at least half of all the grains you eat are whole grains. Eating grains, especially whole grains, provides many health benefits, such as reducing the risk of some chronic diseases. Grains provide many nutrients that are vital for the health and maintenance of our bodies!
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics theme for 2021 is “Personalize Your Plate,” which is also a very important message! This is to remind us all that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to your nutrition and health! Everyone is different and on their own path with their own goals. Your lifestyle and the food you eat can be personalized to fit what works for you and what you enjoy.
