Healthy Halloween Tips

Halloween is an exciting, spooky, and tasty way to kick off the holiday season. Are you all about the tricks, or all about the treats? Whether you are more excited about the festive costumes and jack-o-lanterns or sweet and delicious candy, check out these tips to add fun yet healthful spins to your Halloween.

  • Don’t forget dinner: try making some Halloween themed meals for a festive day of food. Jack-o-lantern stuffed peppers, gingerbread houses, monster mashed potatoes, spooky spaghetti, and ghost cupcakes are fun for the whole family.
  • Get festive: this holiday is celebrated for many reasons besides candy. Get involved in Halloween and fall activities like pumpkin carving, hayrides, corn mazes, spooky movies, and especially the costumes!
  • Candy lasts forever. Okay, maybe not FOREVER, but it has a pretty long shelf life. Listen to your body, try not to get a stomach ache, and know that the candy will still be there for you to enjoy tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day…
  • The best snacks come in small packages. Offer the small, “fun-size” versions of candy. This will help to acknowledge some hunger and fullness cues and allow you to try more than one type of candy!
  • Pick your favorites: eat the candy you enjoy! Consider donating the extra candy to a local shelter or using it for art and baking creations!
  • Get moving: trick-or-treating is a wonderful family activity and a great way to get some fresh fall air and spend time with friends.

To ensure a fun, healthy, and safe Halloween, try taking part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. There are a wide variety of food allergies these days ranging from nuts, dairy, soy and more. It’s important to raise awareness of these allergies to keep Halloween safe and fun for everyone.

  • Be a part of the Teal Pumpkin Project by:
  • Painting a pumpkin with a teal color and placing it on your front doorstep for all trick-or-treaters to see you are an allergy free house
  • Hand out non-food treats to ensure safety for all with potential allergies.
  • Spread the word about the project!

All in all, enjoy and celebrate this holiday! Partake in all the fun activities Halloween has to offer!

What our clients are saying

“We were totally impressed by the presentation and care in which these new team members were brought into the CulinArt family. So happy we made the decision to choose CulinArt Group.”

“I just wanted to express my thanks and give two thumbs up for the updates to our lunch menu. My selections have been quite tasty—corned beef Reuben, jambalaya—and I appreciate that, too! I am looking forward to trying some new items in the coming weeks. Keep up the good work!”

“Thank you for including me today in the food waste demonstration/[chef competition] and flattering me with the role of “judge.” I will proudly don the [Stop Food Waste Day] apron the next time I plan an “event” in our own kitchen. I think this is a very worthwhile cause and the statistics you read off are staggering. They, alone, can intimidate a home chef, let alone be the “driver’ for a professional one.”

“Thank you and your staff for all the care and thought you give CSW adults and students. You approach events with such care and elegance- I don’t know how you do it! Especially day after day. Please thank all your staff for their wonderful work and kind manner with all of us. Here is to a great year!”

“We appreciate the excellent service that is a hallmark of the Chadwick Culinart team. You all are such professionals - and you always deliver your service in such a pleasant manner! Thank you for everything you do to help make the Village events successful. We greatly appreciate your talents, efforts, and kindness.”

“I wanted to let you know that for this entire school year I have been so well fed! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE all the diversity of salad choices we have each day and the amazing entrees.  My favorites are the carnitas, chili, curry, and cajun chicken days.  I am so grateful for all the care that goes into the food because I know I do not eat enough vegetables or balanced meals without you and your crew's work.  Thank you so much!  You take such great care of us!!”

“I ALWAYS feel spoiled by the meal offerings at CSW (The Cambridge School of Weston) and am entirely grateful for it. As I eat today's delicious and lavish lunch (and think about yesterday's as well), I can't tell you how much I feel so well cared for here, both with the food and by the dining hall staff. CSW cares for us in so many ways, both big and small.”

“We want to take a moment to celebrate all the employees who worked on the front lines during unprecedented times. Your efforts and dedication to going above and beyond are noticed and appreciated. Thank you for being the heart and soul of CulinArt Group. We couldn’t do this without you. Chef Jay and Chef Paul have been so awesome in the Hubbell Café.  There has been significant change, but they take it in stride and keep the delicious food coming.  We truly appreciate them!”

“Even though we see challenges every day, each one of you rises to the occasion and makes it seem so easy. I cannot express how impressive it is to see you all work in such a fashion. You are true professionals.”

“I’m the GM for Branson [Ultrasonics] and based in the Brookfield office.  This is the first week that the café has been up and running in our new headquarters and just want to acknowledge the great job Adam Schnittert and the CulinArt staff onsite have done.  Our employees’ feedback thus far has been very positive.  The expanded options and menu quality have been very well received.  Just want to send you a quick note of thanks.”
