Parker School features family recipes for lunch
SAN DIEGO, March 22, 2021 – It’s Language and Culture Week at Francis Parker School in San Diego, where the menu features dishes inspired by students’ family recipes—yesterday’s Red Sauce with Italian Sausage Penne Pasta, for example, preparation of which was overseen by Chef Victor Corona (above). The week is an annual celebration of cultures, traditions, and backgrounds, with school lunch playing a big part along with, in ordinary times, entertainment, a food fair, flag parade, and kids dressing up with clothing representing different cultures around the world.
“Many families submitted recipes,” says Rosemary Lopez, FSD for CulinArt. “Admin picked eight families to feature this week and asked us to create a menu inspired by the recipes they received, whether it was a main dish or side. All the recipes are going into a school recipe book.”
